Senior Operations Manager
Sportway Media Group | Remote/Field-based
About Sportway
Sportway is a sports media company utilizing AI and automated video production to delivering AI-powered camera systems that make sports content accessible for federations, clubs, and leagues worldwide. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and we are expanding our international footprint, including through recent acquisitions that broaden our production capabilities.
About the Role
As Senior Operations Manager, you will take on a central role in planning and coordinating everything from logistics to technical installations. You will hold end-to-end ownership for ensuring our AI camera systems are delivered, installed, and running at peak performance, while safeguarding cost-efficiency and quality along the way.
This is a highly autonomous, self-starting role: you'll be expected to identify problems and drive solutions independently in the field, often without close day-to-day oversight. At the same time, you will work in close alignment with our headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, following the direction, standards, and processes set by HQ, and keeping the team there informed with clear, timely reporting. You will not be working in isolation on the ground: you'll be part of a growing local team, working closely with sales and project managers to execute our strategy in the territory. The role requires a combination of technical understanding, operational leadership, and the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Logistics: Coordinate and optimize logistics for installations and operations across multiple regions, in line with HQ guidelines.
• Procurement & Cost Control: Own the budget for external costs, including hardware and third-party installation resources, and report financial performance and spend to HQ.
• Installations: Own the planning and execution of AI camera installations including third party suppliers.
• Support: Advise and support our international offices on technology choices and technical issues.
• Third-Party Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with vendors and external partners, with particular focus on IT and IP hardware suppliers (servers, network switches, IP cameras, and related infrastructure), including sourcing, contract negotiation, and service-level management.
• Team Leadership & Hiring: Recruit, onboard, and manage junior operations staff, building and developing a high-performing local team.
• Facilities & Vendor Negotiations: Identify and negotiate office and warehouse space, and represent Sportway in dealings with banks, local authorities, and other third-party service providers.
• Overall Operations: Liaise with our support centers in Lativa and the Philippines , which handles monitoring and status reporting on operational performance, and help ensure reporting standards set by HQ are followed. Potentially structure a support center in a more relevant location.
• AI Quality: Evaluate and ensure AI performance for existing and new sports.
• Research & Development: Contribute to the development of new technologies and solutions.
• Training: Take responsibility for training staff on our systems and processes.
Required Qualifications
• Fluent English, spoken and written. Additional languages, including Swedish and Spanish, are considered an advantage.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong technical understanding of IT and IP hardware (servers, network switches, IP cameras, and related infrastructure), including experience managing vendor and supplier relationships in this area.
• Proven experience in project management or operational roles, including hiring, onboarding, and managing staff.
• Experience with logistics, ideally international.
• Proven senior-level experience, comfortable negotiating and engaging directly with authorities, and third-party suppliers.
• Experience managing a budget or cost center, including tracking external/vendor costs and reporting financial performance to leadership or headquarters
• Experience working with or within European companies, with an understanding of the business culture and working styles that can differ across international markets.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field, while reliably following direction and reporting lines from company headquarters in Stockholm.
• Willingness to travel regularly for installations and site support.
Personality & Traits
We're looking for someone who is:
• Self-Going: A proactive self-starter who takes ownership of problems and drives them to resolution without needing to be told twice, while staying aligned with HQ direction and reporting expectations.
• Detail-Oriented: You have an eye for detail and make sure nothing is left to chance.
• A Multitasker: You thrive juggling many priorities at once.
• Service-Minded: You take a customer-oriented approach and create value for colleagues and partners alike.
• Proactive: You take your own initiative and are solution-oriented in your work.
What We're Looking For
As our new Senior Operations Manager, you are a driven, detail-oriented professional who enjoys taking ownership and pushing projects forward. You can see the big picture while finding efficient solutions to complex problems. Your positive attitude and customer focus make you a valued colleague and partner - and your independence is matched by a genuine willingness to stay closely coordinated with, and take direction from, our Stockholm headquarters.
What We Offer
• A dynamic, international work environment in an innovative industry.
• The opportunity to influence and shape operations at a growing company.
• Engaged, passionate colleagues who share your drive to deliver the highest quality.
